  1. One of the high points to our trip
Spending the day with Francesca during our stay in Italy was one of the high points to our trip. She accommodated 12 of us for a tour: an all day excursion that started in Siena. We had breakfast at a coffee bar that is popular with the locals. After filling our stomachs with delicious pastries, we departed for a scenic drive through the countryside that ended at a monastery. Here, we began with a tour of the buildings and ended with a wine tasting and olive oil tasting. We appreciated the history of the monastery adding interesting side notes that made the tour much more enjoyable. Next, we went into the town of Montalcino where we had a spectacular lunch and wine pairing at La Vineria. Here, we ate a relaxing lunch and drank a few different delicious wines. After lunch we were able to explore Montalcino on our own and walk off some of the filling meal. The next stop was the best of the day. Tenuta Le Potazzine! At this vineyard we were introduced to some of the finest wines in all of Tuscany. We were treated to a very personal tour where we learned the differences in the grades of the Italian wines.
Our next trip to Italy will definitely include a day with Francesca exploring the Tuscan region. Yours should also.

  2. Francesca makes the difference
We have learned in our travels that it’s not just where you stay, but even more importantly who you stay with. Francesca is definitely a difference maker and made our stay in Sienna the favorite locale of our two weeks in Italy. Born and raised in the area, Francesca’s love for and knowledge of Siena/Tuscany was incredibly helpful. We relied heavily on her for restaurant & shopping recommendations and even hired her as our personal guide for a tour of Tuscany. The Tuscany tour was unanimously our best day in Italy. We visited three winery’s and learned that Franciscan Monk’s make very fine wine, Mozart’s music improves grape quality, and most importantly that life is too short to drink bad wine. During the tour we also visited a monastery, toured an ancient castle and had an awesome lunch in Montalcino. The natural beauty of Tuscany along with its incredible history, and wonderful food & wine all came together on this very memorable tour! We are very happy to have chosen Siena as our base in Tuscany and were truly blessed to have Francesca as our hostess and guide.
